The ever increasing number of capabilities also lead to the surge in popularity of cell phones in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Third generation, or 3G phones, were first created in 2001. These phones used new technology to increase data speeds and allow users greater access to the internet and web-based services. For the first time, 3G made it possible for users to stream live content like music and movies on their mobile phones. Smartphones became popular during the 3G revolution because they allowed users to do nearly countless tasks using a mobile handset. Thanks to the Apple iPhone, apps became an essential feature for smartphones. By the end of 2007, more than 295 million people subscribed to 3G networks. The New iPad 3, Features and Benefits

Despite the recent controversy surrounding working conditions in Apple manufacturing facilities, consumers don’t seem to be mind too much about it when it comes to the new iPad 3. As of March 12, 2012, the iPad 3, due to be released on March 16, Apple had already sold out of all its inventory allotted for pre-orders. What makes the new iPad 3 so popular? Should you plan on purchasing one?

Screen Unlike (Almost) Any Other

One of the first features that will make your eyes pop – perhaps literally – is the Retina display on the Apple iPad 3. The Retina display doubles the pixel count of the iPad 2, topping out at 2048 x 1536 pixels. This means that the iPad 3 will be an ideal device for HD movies, HD gaming and HD reading. Although it’s still not as easy on the eyes as Amazon’s E Ink technology, in every other respect the Retina is a superior display when compared to any other mobile screen.

The new iPad would be impressive just with the screen update alone. However, the iPad 3 also clocks in at 4G LTE speeds, making it not just more beautiful but also much faster than the iPad 2.

Although the A5X chip doesn’t seem that different from the A5 chip at first blush, the A5X processor has quad-core graphics that will offer users cutting-edge graphics that will definitely make the iPad 2 seem like yesterday’s tablet.

Is It Hard to Recycle Digital Cameras?

If you have owned previous generations of the iPad, you’ll know from first-hand experience that the original iPad had no camera at all while the second iPad had a camera that was, at best, adequate. The new iPad has a camera that will easily out-perform cameras on most existing smartphones and cell phones. With a 5-megapixel camera and a 1080p camcorder, the new iPad has all the camera power that the average user will need.

In other words, the iPad 3 will be just as competent at creating content as it will be at consuming it.

The New iPad Price Stays the Same

One of the only things that doesn’t change with the new iPad is the price. As with previous versions of the iPad, the iPad 3 will start at a cool $499. If this sounds like bad news to you, there’s a silver lining to this price cloud. The iPad 2 will be dropped to $399. Unless you’re a high-def addict and can’t live without the Retina display, the iPad 2′s new price has a chance to put an iPad 2 in your hands if you don’t have one already.

In summary, the new iPad blows the older iPads out of the water when it comes to the screen, the speed and the camera. Even if you don’t decide to go for the iPad 3, deciding that the iPad 2 is plenty of tablet for you, you’ll still benefit from the upgrade thanks to the lower iPad 2 price. All in all, the new iPad might just be enough to make you want to give up your laptop and make the big switch to tablet computing.
