The History Of Cellular Phones And Smartphones, Past, Present And Future

With cell phones and smartphones now essential in the lives of millions of individuals, it’s hard to believe that, just a few short decades ago, they were a rarity. Today they come in countless styles, brands, and designs, and they can perform tasks that early cellular phone developers never would have dreamed of. With all that is possible with today’s mobile devices, it is hard to even tell what the future may hold.

The first portable phone was developed in 1973 by Dr. Martin Cooper, a former general manager for Motorola’s systems division. He set up his base station in New York and set up the first working prototype of the Motorola Dyna-Tac to introduce the device to the public.

In 1977, the cell phone finally went public. The first trials were performed in Chicago, but they quickly spread to other major cities throughout the United States. By 1988, The Cellular Technology Industry Associate was created to establish specific goals for the providers of cellular phones.

The first mobile phones were large, bulky devices. Many early models were designed to be installed in cars. These bag phones, as they were commonly called, were very costly and involved extensive wiring in the vehicle. They were nowhere near as portable as the slim phones of today. In the early 1990s, a second generation of mobile phones became available. These devices used primarily the GSM standard and varied from earlier phones by using digital transmission instead of analog. Second generation devices where also the first to include SMS or text messaging. Throughout the 1990s and into the early years of the 21st century, cell phones became progressively smaller and more portable.

Media content like downloadable ring tones and music also made its first appearance on second generation phones. By 1999, the first full internet service for mobile phones was unveiled by a Japanese company. The use of 2G phones quickly became widespread throughout the world due to the lower costs and size of the devices. The ever increasing number of capabilities also lead to the surge in popularity of cell phones in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Third generation, or 3G phones, were first created in 2001. These phones used new technology to increase data speeds and allow users greater access to the internet and web-based services. For the first time, 3G made it possible for users to stream live content like music and movies on their mobile phones. Smartphones became popular during the 3G revolution because they allowed users to do nearly countless tasks using a mobile handset. Thanks to the Apple iPhone, apps became an essential feature for smartphones. By the end of 2007, more than 295 million people subscribed to 3G networks. Today, the majority of smartphones still operate on 3G networks.

By 2009, development began on a 4G network. 4G technology is capable of greater speed that is necessary for some of the most intense applications such as those that stream live media. Though it is not yet available everywhere, it has become increasingly available in larger cities. As the popularity of cell phones, smartphones, and other mobile devices continues to grow, it is certain that the technology will continue to evolve and improve. In time, users should expect to see even faster devices and smartphones that are capable of performing all the functions of a full desktop computer. Other emerging technology includes 3D screens that do not require the use of special glasses.

With cell phones and smartphones quickly becoming more powerful than ever, there has also been a boom in the cell phone accessory industry. Covers, cases, and snap on protectors have proven to be especially popular because they prevent damage to high end devices while adding a touch of style. With the right accessories, it is possible to get the most out of any mobile device.

Chargers, memory cards, BlueTooth headsets, and screen covers are also popular among consumers of all ages. As the cell phone industry evolves, so does the accessory industry. As the phones become more fragile, manufacturers work to make accessories that are more effective against damage. At MyCoolCell, you can find all the accessories you could ever need for the phone you have now and for whatever devices you may own in the future.

To Whom this may concern,

I wanted to take a minute to let you know how I found your company. I work for a dentist in the Orange County area. One of the doctors that I work for is a friend of the owner of your company.

Friday during my lunch I visited the Verizon store. I was looking for a charger for work, my phone dies at the not so convenient times. After they told me how much a charger was ($34.99) I told them, nope not happening.

When I returned from lunch Dr. Abas and I were talking about the cost of the charger. He told me to check out your company, I did and I bought the charger and a skin. I love the site and will post on my FB account as well. Really love the no shipping cost, always a plus.
Thanks again, enjoy the weekend.

The New iPad 3, Features and Benefits

Despite the recent controversy surrounding working conditions in Apple manufacturing facilities, consumers don’t seem to be mind too much about it when it comes to the new iPad 3. As of March 12, 2012, the iPad 3, due to be released on March 16, Apple had already sold out of all its inventory allotted for pre-orders. What makes the new iPad 3 so popular? Should you plan on purchasing one?

Screen Unlike (Almost) Any Other

One of the first features that will make your eyes pop – perhaps literally – is the Retina display on the Apple iPad 3. The Retina display doubles the pixel count of the iPad 2, topping out at 2048 x 1536 pixels. This means that the iPad 3 will be an ideal device for HD movies, HD gaming and HD reading. Although it’s still not as easy on the eyes as Amazon’s E Ink technology, in every other respect the Retina is a superior display when compared to any other mobile screen.

The New iPad – Faster Than a Speeding Bullet

The new iPad would be impressive just with the screen update alone. However, the iPad 3 also clocks in at 4G LTE speeds, making it not just more beautiful but also much faster than the iPad 2.

It’s not just data speed that’s improving with the iPad 3, though. The new iPad also comes with the A5X chip. Although the A5X chip doesn’t seem that different from the A5 chip at first blush, the A5X processor has quad-core graphics that will offer users cutting-edge graphics that will definitely make the iPad 2 seem like yesterday’s tablet.

Is It Hard to Recycle Digital Cameras?

If you have owned previous generations of the iPad, you’ll know from first-hand experience that the original iPad had no camera at all while the second iPad had a camera that was, at best, adequate. The new iPad has a camera that will easily out-perform cameras on most existing smartphones and cell phones. With a 5-megapixel camera and a 1080p camcorder, the new iPad has all the camera power that the average user will need.

In other words, the iPad 3 will be just as competent at creating content as it will be at consuming it.

The New iPad Price Stays the Same

One of the only things that doesn’t change with the new iPad is the price. As with previous versions of the iPad, the iPad 3 will start at a cool $499. If this sounds like bad news to you, there’s a silver lining to this price cloud. The iPad 2 will be dropped to $399. Unless you’re a high-def addict and can’t live without the Retina display, the iPad 2′s new price has a chance to put an iPad 2 in your hands if you don’t have one already.

In summary, the new iPad blows the older iPads out of the water when it comes to the screen, the speed and the camera. Even if you don’t decide to go for the iPad 3, deciding that the iPad 2 is plenty of tablet for you, you’ll still benefit from the upgrade thanks to the lower iPad 2 price. All in all, the new iPad might just be enough to make you want to give up your laptop and make the big switch to tablet computing.

Texting On Cell Phones Etiquette Rules

It is quite handy to have cell phones around when you need to call someone or send an urgent message to the office or to your family. These devices are so commonly used that there have been protocol guidelines made to control using the phones in public. Sending text or SMS messages via cellular phones are becoming more common than making a call.

Sending SMS messages through cellular devices has been gaining ground in the last few years and is becoming more fashionable than calling people on the phone. Because so many people do it, they should also take responsible steps to practice better manners when texting on their phones. Texting can also be dangerous when done while driving a car.

If you have to text something urgent while you are driving a car, you should allow your passenger read the SMS message and reply to it on your behalf so you can concentrate on your driving. If you are not driving the car, you should respect the driver and inform your driver that you need to reply to an important SMS message.

If you are chatting to someone, avoid reading incoming SMS messages or replying to them. If you are expecting an important text, you should excuse yourself, reply to the text and quickly bring your attention back to the person you were talking to. Wait for an appropriate time to read your text and reply to it.

If you are at work, in a meeting or in a public place, put your text messaging alert tone to silent or set it to a single beep at a low volume. Putting your phone on vibrate during a meeting or while dining at a restaurant can also be a cause for irritation for other people around you.

Avoid reading or replying to a text message from your phone while at the movies, a theatre or in a concert, even if your phone is on silent. Your mobile phone will light up and disturb other people watching a movie or play. The light coming from your mobile phone becomes more obvious in a dark movie house.

It is helpful to have cell phones to communicate with friends and other people. Texting is the latest craze to hit teens and even adults. Even if you do not speak to send an SMS message, typing endlessly on the phone can irritate people around you. Just like calling, it would be best to excuse yourself to send a text message.

How To Choose A Smart Phone – A 9780 Phone Review

Since 1999, Research in Motion (RIM) has been making Blackberry cell phones and other electronic devices. This article is a review of one of Blackberry’s most popular smart phones, the Bold 9780. Keep reading to find out the great things about the Bold 9780 and the not so great things about the Bold.

Blackberry is a leader in the industry since it continues to incorporate more and more apps for its devices. The changing field of technology has not fazed RIM (Research in Motion) as they continue to make more apps that will work with Blackberry devices.

The social media power of Facebook is an integral part of the Blackberry network because of applications that are specifically made for social media.

There are also apps that help you organize your photos, such as ones that work with Flickr, and apps for messaging and Google Talk. And this is not limited only to your smartphone because the Blackberry Desktop Manager can also work on your home computer just like your phone.

Once you begin accumulating a lot of files, then you can also use Universal Search to quickly find anything. MP3 files, videos, pictures or anything else will be readily available.

MicroSD card memory expansion is somewhat typical for many smart phones, and the 9780 has that capability. We think smart phones are great because you can entertain yourself, text or talk all at the same time, just about.

But there may be a question in your mind about getting a suddenly older model, the 9780, when a new model, the 9800, is now on the market. There are not always optimal reasons for going with a higher model number unit.

If you love touch screens, then the Torch 9800 is for you; but if not, then the 9780 is your phone. The touch screen has a following among people who have iPads or maybe a tablet. So there it is… one has a touch screen and the other has a keyboard.

If you are torn between the two, then make your decision based on that data. With so many features on this smartphone, the 9780 is a must-have device for any serious smartphone user.

Few other phones available right now allow you to surf the Internet, check your e-mail, and do things that only a home PC is able to do. The Blackberry 9780 is a must have smartphone with many more features than could be listed in this short article so find out more about it right now.

A lot more people are beginning to understand that the Verizon Mifi may be the hottest way to link all of your wireless products to the Internet. Seek advice from your favorite Verizon seller for much more information.
