Sweet Deals on Sprint Nextel Cell Phone Accessories

When two giants in one field join forces, you can bet the result will be even bigger and better than the originals. Sprint, one of the oldest phone companies around, and Nextel, a relative new-comer, announced their proposed merger in 2004. Since then, with the deal completed, they have gone on to prove that uniting the two companies was a no-brainer.

You may not realize that Sprint has been around almost as long as Bell. Sprint founder Cleyson Brown took his Brown Telephone Company up against Bell Telephone in Kansas all the way back in 1899 and emerged a winner. He went on to grow his business. By the mid-1970’s, Sprint was the largest independent telephone provider in the US.

Moving on through the 1980s and 1990 with the same pioneering spirit as its founder, Sprint continued to grow and produce innovative products. In 1996, Sprint completed the first nationwide 100 % digital PCS wireless network. Sprint has continually striven to be the leader in wireless technology and creative excellence.

Nextel was founded as Fleet Net in 1987 by Morgan O’Brien, and became Nextel in 1993. Under the visionary leadership of O’Brien, the company quickly grew into a leading force in the wireless world.

By 1995, Nextel had merged with two other companies, acquired Motorola’s SMR licenses, and received a billion dollar investment. The famous Nextel push-to-talk phone premiered in 1996. This was the fist phone to combine enhanced digital cellular, text/numeric paging and two-way radio. The Nextel National Network made its debut at the beginning of 1997.

Nextel has continued to grow and expand its networks and products. They’ve offered a steady flow of phones, smart electronic devices and internet-capable phones along with their Nationwide Direct Connect feature and IP broadband access.

They’ve brought their fiercely loyal customer base, their entrepreneurial spirit and their determination to be the best and most innovative company to their merger with Sprint. Sprint has brought an unremitting drive to reach higher standards of excellence, a desire to create advanced wireless capabilities and their own deeply loyal customers to the table.
