Apple NANO 6 Accessories
iPod Nano 6
Since the unveiling of the first iPod Nano in 2005, the tiny device has been revolutionizing the music industry. Which each new generation there have been new features that set the bar for portable music players and amazed consumers and industry insiders by showing just how much power can be packed in a seemingly impossible device. The iPod Nano 6, the smallest device in the Nano line and packs numerous features into such a tiny gadget. As a result of the smaller size, however, a couple features have been omitted, which may come as a disappointment to those who have owned previous models.
Released in 2010, the 6th generation iPod Nano features a completely revamped design, and it is the first to include a touchscreen instead of the click wheel found on earlier models. The Nano 6 measures just 1.6 inches by 1.5 inches and is a mere 0.3 inch thick. Weighing in at about 0.7 ounce, it is so lightweight it is barely noticeable. For some people, this is a positive feature, but for others, it can make it very easy to misplace the device or accidentally send it through the washing machine while in the pocket of their favorite jeans. The screen measures 1.5 inches. To compensate for this smaller size, Cover Flow has been removed. The small screen also makes picture viewing less than impressive.
Some fans of previous models of the iPod Nano find the Nano 6 a bit disappointing. While the 5th generation included a video camera and video playback, the 6th generation does not. The screen on this model is also smaller than previous versions. The biggest upgrade is the multi-touch screen. To go along with the new screen, Apple has completely revamped the user interface. Like other Apple products, the iPod Nano 6 user interface is very intuitive and easy to use. The touchscreen is very accurate and sensitive, but since the screen is so small, the touch capability simply isn't as impressive as it is on larger devices like the iPhone or iPod Touch. Users cannot download and add new apps to the iPod Nano, but the screens can be customized by moving the included icons around. Icons cannot, however, be removed.
For many consumers, reviews on the 6th generation iPod Nano have been mixed. While the multi-touch interface has become nearly essential in Apple's line of portable devices, it simply isn't as important or efficient on such a small device. In addition, the lack of video support has also been a disappointment for many users. For those who are just looking for an easy to use, compact portable music player, though, the iPod Nano 6 fits the bill perfectly.
Completing your iPod Nano 6 With Accessories
Out of the box, the 6th generation iPod Nano comes with very few accessories – a sync cable, and Apple's standard mediocre ear buds. If you want to get the most out of yours, you should first upgrade to a better set of headphones or ear buds. A charger for keeping your iPod Nano 6's battery fully charged while on the go is also likely to prove to be an excellent investment.
