HTC MyTouch 4G

One of the latest devices in the line of HTC MyTouch products from T-Mobile, the HTC MyTouch 4G offers an abundance of features that consumers are looking for in a high-end smartphone. Because it runs on the T-Mobile 4G network, it is capable of achieving blazing fast speeds, and it has quickly become a favorite among consumers.

HTC MyTouch 4G Style and Design

In terms of overall shape and design, the HTC MyTouch 4G is similar to other products in the MyTouch lineup. The biggest different, however, lies in the feel and weight. Unlike earlier models, it includes stainless steel features and a rubberized soft-touch coating around the edges. These premium additions make the device look and feel considerably more sturdy. Weighing in at 5 ounces, it is also a bit heavier than earlier models. It measures 4.8 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide and is just 0.4 inch thick, so it has a very sturdy feel while remaining compact enough to fit comfortable in most pockets.

The front of the device is dominated by a 3.8 inch WVGA touchscreen. The screen is very responsive and accurate, and the display is sharp and clear. The virtual keyboard is easy to use thanks to Swype technology. For those who would prefer to type in a more traditional manner, though, Swype can be turned off. There is also an optical track pad for easy navigation and the traditional Android shortcut keys. In addition, there is a Genius button that launches the device's voice command application.

HTC MyTouch 4G Features

The HTC MyTouch 4G runs on the Android 2.2 operating system and supports T-Mobile's HSPA+ network. Though this is not true 4G technology as the name suggests, it stacks up very well and offers 4G-like performance. The device has a powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor, so it performs at lighting fast speeds.

The standard Android features are preloaded on the HTC MyTouch 4G. In addition to integration with a number of Google services, the device also includes support for email and social networking accounts, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Unlike some devices, the HTC MyTouch 4G can also be used as a mobile Hot Spot with T-Mobile's Wi-Fi and Tethering plan.

The HTC MyTouch 4G has a 5 megapixel camera with flash that can also be use used to record HD video. The camera app provides numerous editing options that allow users touch up their photos while on the go. Picture quality is pretty good, but like most cell phone cameras, it takes the best photos outdoors in natural light.

Video calling is a feature of the HTC MyTouch 4G, but unfortunately, it is disappointing at best. Many users experience issues with video and audio not syncing and transmitting properly.

HTC MyTouch 4G Overview

The HTC MyTouch 4G from T-Mobile is a high end smartphone with numerous high end features. Running on the user-friendly Android operating system, it is a good choice for most anyone who is looking for a powerful smartphone. Video calling currently lacks refinement, but for the vast majority of users, this is not a top concern.
