The LG Thrive and the LG Phoenix are essentially the exact same phone. The only difference is that the LG Thrive is $149 and uses the AT&T GoPhone prepaid network, whereas the LG Phoenix is $50 with a two-year contract with AT&T.

The LG Optimus is basically the same phone as the Thrive or Phoenix, but some of the other carriers provide you with more affordable data packages than AT&T.
Whichever version of the Thrive / Phoenix / Optimus you choose, rest assured that you're picking out a great little smartphone. This LG phone is quick, slick, and easy to use. It comes with the standard four Android keys at the bottom of the phone – a home key, options key, back key, and Google search key. It also comes preloaded with a number of apps, including all the standard Google apps like Gmail and Google Maps.
The AT&T Thrive / Phoenix also comes with a few custom AT&T apps. For example, the FamilyMap shows parents where their kids are based upon the phone's GPS. The FamilyMap can be updated to send regular notifications to mom or dad's phone to let them know, for instance, that their kids have arrived home from school. Parents may find this type of feature extremely helpful; teens may find it extremely annoying. At any rate, it's preloaded on the Thrive and the Phoenix. The only downside is that these AT&T preloaded apps cannot be removed.
