Motorola MB870 Droid X2 Accessories
Motorola Droid X2
When the Droid X came out, it made quite the splash in the Android world. The Motorola Droid X was a top performer for Verizon when it came out, but as time went by it was outpaced by faster, newer phones. The Droid X2 is Motorola's attempt to catch the Droid X back up with the newcomers. Does it live up to Motorola's hype?
The good news is that the Motorola Droid X2 has a dual-core processor, which makes it lightning-fast when it comes to performance. It also has a very nice qHD display, good call quality, and pretty decent battery life (for a smartphone). The bad news – perhaps the only bad news – is that the Droid X2 doesn't have 4G. This is definitely a disappointment for some network speed freaks, but the average user probably won't mind having to stick to 3G. Another disappointment is the lack of a front-facing camera – the type of bells-and-whistles feature that most new smartphones are including these days.
The design of the Motorola Droid X2 is almost exactly the same as the Droid X. In fact, if you compared the two phones right next to each other, it would be difficult to tell that they were any different at all. The new Droid X is the same weight and same size as the old Droid X. Both designs are a little on the chunky side; if there was a Jenny Craig for phones, the Droid X would be one of the first in line to sign up. That being said, however, the Droid X2 isn't that much heavier than the HTC ThunderBolt or Samsung Droid Charge.
As for the platform, the Droid X2 ships with Android 2.2.2, although this will be updated to Android Gingerbread at some point in the future. The bottom line is this: The Motorola Droid X2 looks the same on the outside to the Droid X, but its screen and its processor make it a much zippier phone.
